The Church of Pentecost Pakistan’s Game-Changing Outreach

The Church of Pentecost Pakistan is making a powerful impact by reaching unreached youth through its dynamic sports ministry. Recognizing the immense passion young people in Pakistan have for cricket, the church has developed an innovative outreach strategy that uses the sport as a platform for evangelism and fellowship.

Cricket as a Ministry Tool

Cricket is more than just a game—it’s a doorway to meaningful connection. Each local assembly of the Church of Pentecost forms its own cricket team, guided by local pastors. These teams meet daily for practice, with every session beginning in prayer. This time allows for spiritual growth, discussions about faith, and community-building among the youth.

Planning and Promotion

To create widespread engagement, the sports ministry works closely with pastors and church leaders to plan impactful events. On tournament day, the church selects a local ground, designs promotional flyers, and leverages social media to spread the word. Each local assembly shares the event within their community, inviting neighbors and friends to join in.

Hospitality and Fellowship

The entire church community contributes to the event. Local assemblies prepare food, while volunteers set up food stalls to offer free meals, creating a welcoming and hospitable environment. This also opens doors for pastors and evangelism teams to form friendships, share the gospel, and connect with attendees on a personal level.

Worship and Word

The day begins with a free breakfast for everyone, during which volunteers engage with guests and invite them to attend local Church of Pentecost services. Before the matches begin, gospel singers lead a time of worship on the field. The joyful atmosphere of singing, dancing, and celebration becomes a powerful witness of God’s love.

Following the worship, a pastor delivers a short, impactful message and offers an invitation for listeners to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior.

Faith in Every Moment

Lunchtime carries its own spiritual significance. A pastor blesses the food and shares a motivational message from the Bible, creatively tying in themes of faith, perseverance, and victory in both sports and life.

The closing ceremony wraps up the day with a sermon about Christ’s triumph over sin and death. Prayers of thanksgiving, a message of hope, and a final call to faith reinforce the gospel and encourage lasting reflection.

Ongoing Outreach

The church ensures the outreach continues long after the tournament ends. Free Bibles, faith-based literature, and contact cards are distributed. The evangelism team follows up through phone calls and social media, thanking participants, offering prayer, and inviting them to Church of Pentecost services.

Empowering Women Through Sports

The sports ministry is also empowering women. The Church of Pentecost Pakistan proudly supports five young women who play field hockey at both national and international levels. These athletes serve in children’s ministry as Bible teachers and participate in the church choir. As Christian women excelling in sports in a predominantly Islamic country, they are a powerful inspiration to others—especially young girls from minority communities.

Their stories of faith and achievement break barriers and open doors. Through their witness, many have come to know Jesus Christ and have joined the Church of Pentecost.
